Using a dirty washcloth does not cause acne. However, if you have acne and then repeatedly use the same unclean washcloth for cleansing, the bacteria that remains on the cloth may spread and cause new breakouts and could possibly make your existing breakouts worse.

We recommend that you launder your washcloths at least every other day. It is also helpful to wash other items frequently that come into contact with your acne, such as pillowcases, sheets, and comforters.
